Hello and welcome to another edition of the MabsArts blog. Today I will be sharing my experience with you on how I became a seller on Fiverr, made a killing (for a while) and then almost got killed (not really) by a Hurricane. Let’s dive right in…

Fast forward a couple of years and I’ve already made a second game with Meman32, “Planet Flyer” and even began work on a third game that was not released.
Already making some money, I was hungry to expand my knowledge, and my skills. So I joined several forums, the first one was the Spriters-Resources community, where I learned more about pixel-art, game art, and game development. The second one came in the form of a link to a website from the partners of Newgrounds. The Behemoth, is a game development studio responsible for a wide-variety of games. Hits such as “Alien Hominid”, “Castle Crashers”, and “Battleblock Theater” with even more games in stores, and a new one coming out soon. The Behemoth forum at the time was almost a subset of the Newgrounds community, with as many artists and animators in the forum, ready to provide feedback on your latest piece.
I opened myself a thread and started posting my art. At the time, coming directly from Newgrounds and working on vector art for the better part of the year, I was really into making cool little sticker designs of their game “Castle Crashers”. I would use the basic design of the characters and create sticker like images in Adobe Illustrator. Forum members loved them! They gave me more feedback, and this coupled with the feedback I was already receiving on Newgrounds gave me the confidence to try bigger and more expansive pieces of art. All this culminating in one day seeing a little link in the signature part of another member’s profile. In their profile they had a link. This link had the text “I will do a 5 minute MS Paint drawing of anything you want for $5” They were also posting their art on the forum, and I was very excited to see what this link held.
It took me to a land of riches, of which I had never even dreamed of.
The link took me to Fiverr.com
