Hello and welcome all to the MabsArts blog. Today we will happily be discussing with you the nature of colors and how different color combinations can influence your designs.
We will be using the MabsArts logos as an example to give you an idea of how you too can use meaningful logo combinations in your business.
What is Color?
The Google dictionary refers to it as “The property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light.”
The quality of bouncing light that produces a sensation on the eye.
The sensation part is the most important part. This is because the color of something can cause a different sensation on the eye. If you look at a painting of a dark stormy day, the colors will aid in you feeling perhaps dread, mystery, or even fear. Just as well if you look at a painting of a bright colorful sunny day, it is very likely you will feel refreshed, joy, and happiness.
This is why it is very important to know what colors to use in your design/illustration work.
How to Use Colors to deliver a Message?
Take the MabsArts logo for example:
Red can be described as the color passion, love, determination and art. Whilst yellow is most described as happy, joyful, and fun.
In this instance, the MabsArts logo uses the color red to represent it’s love for the arts. Since we work in the art services industry, it seems like a perfect choice for us. Next we have the yellow mustache, the mustache might be reminiscent of Mario or the Italian culture, and whilst I am a huge fan of pizza, this is not the reason why we use it. The mustache is a symbol of inventiveness, it is not truly the mustache that we are alluding to here, but to the human experience of creation. Of deciding to invent themselves in all possible areas. Be it physically, emotionally or mentally, art and creation (inventiveness) go hand in hand. The yellow color gives a nice contrast to the artsy red and makes us feel refreshed and joyful towards invention.
Next we have the more formal white and yellow MabsArts Logo:
The white and yellow MabsArts logo is beautiful. Simple, sleek, and just visually very striking. The white heart is reminiscent of the purity of the soul, something we try to constantly uphold and evolve towards to. Our $60 price across all simple designs, is there to take away the problem of having to chase for money. This business we are in, is not in the business of draining your wallet. We are in the business of bringing joy to your soul, through the services of arts. We help you bring your dreams to life, with joy. You can feel that motto again with the use of the yellow mustache.
When it’s all said and done, it’s about the message, what do you want people to feel/read/understand when they see your logo/illustration/design? Make it all about the message, from the first pen stroke to the last paintbrush. Make it count.
