Interview with Artist Shadi Shaay

Tell me a little bit about yourself, about your life? Where did you go to school, and what classes did you study (if any)? What helped prepare you to become the artist that you are today?

I was obsessed with art since childhood. But, I studied Computer Engineering at university. Since then, I realized that I can combine art with technology and I became a graphic designer. my goal is to become a great artist and graphic designer.

How do you go about designing a new piece of art, and what goes through your mind, from start to end?

I imagine what I want to design or paint! when I have the whole idea I search to see related pictures and inspire more, then I do the sketching. After that I prepare the final digital version.

What is a typical day for you, and who are the people you work with?

Now I don’t have any colleague unfortunately. But I love working with other people because I can learn more from them.

What are some of the things that you have worked on?

I like drawing portraits, anatomy and postures. I usually combine them with nature and a meaning!

Is there a character or illustration you have done that you are most happy with?

yes, my recent works!

Who are some of your favorite artists out there?

Charly Clements- Sam Yang

Could you talk about your process in creating your art, as well as the types of tools or media that you use?

I sketch what is in my mind on a paper. then I turn them into a digital picture using Illustrator or Photoshop.

What part of designing is most fun and easy, and what is most difficult?

Finding a new idea and turning my imaginations into a real picture makes me really happy. And choosing colors is hard because they are all beautiful and I have to pick a limited palette.

What are some of the things that you do to keep yourself creative?

I see other artists works for inspiration. I see carefully what is going on around me, people, situations… etc… and I create projects for myself.

What are some of your favorite characters from other creators that you enjoy?

There are a lot of awesome works out there! But I prefer clean lines, colorful paintings. I love textures they use!

What is your most favorite subject to draw? And why?

portraits and postures. Because I see a perfection in there… For instance, a hand can have different shapes and it’s incredible!

What inspired you to become an Artist?

I don’t know really! I was obsessed with art since childhood. I continued doing it because it makes me happy and I’m talented in this field.

What are some of the neat things you have learned from other artists that you have worked with or seen?

To see more works and be up to date.

What wisdom could you give us, about being an Artist? Do you have any tips you could give?

My wisdom is that, when I was answering these questions, I realized how grateful I’m that I can do what I love! Once I read this quote and I love to share it.” Find what you love and let it kill you!!”

Not now! but I’m thinking about it. And I love to put them for sale one day.
